The shared garden of Plouneour-Menez participates for the first time in the event of the Ministry of Culture. This public participatory garden, open to everyone including schoolchildren, was initiated in 2014 by the municipality on a 715m² plot surrounded by walls. It immediately saw itself as an educational place for environmental education, a place of intergenerational sharing, a place of life and entertainment.
Around a greenhouse and a chalet, squares of raised earth have been installed as well as an educational hive. A picnic table allows everyone to sit down and share a piece or a drink if necessary.
An associative dynamic helps to bring the site to life with the organization of exhibitions, events such as the bee festival, the soup festival, the vegetable garden festival, or the launch of hotel manufacturing workshops in insects, hedgehog roosts, etc.
As a partner of Rendez-vous aux jardins, Binette & Jardin loves this garden, a place of intergenerational exchanges, which perfectly embodies the 2021 theme of the Rendez-vous aux jardins event: “The transmission of knowledge”.
Not very far, in the town of Plouneour-Menez, theRelec Abbey located in the Monts d’Arrée, will complete the circuit. This Cistercian abbey with a large Romanesque church, remains of the cloistered space, a fountain, a park and old gardens hosts, with the shared garden, the exhibition “The vegetable garden factory” which tells all the possibilities of the vegetable garden, from the arrangements to the techniques, through the pitfalls to avoid or the essential elements to put in place (vertical vegetable garden, on a hill, or raised, how to produce its seeds or its fertilizers, the importance of animals, interactions between plants and how to avoid diseases and pests…).
